Zum 90. Mal wird in diesem Jahr der Academy Award verliehen.

Mit 13 Nominierungen steht Guillermo del Toros Fantasyfilm "The Shape of Water" ganz oben auf der Favoritenliste bei den Oscars 2018. Der deutsche Film "Aus dem Nichts" mit Diane Kruger in der Hauptrolle ging trotz Golden-Globe-Gewinn leer aus und konnte keine Oscar Nominierung 2018 ergattern.
